5th MIDDLEWICH GUIDES HELP OUR CHARITY
A member of the 5th Middlewich Guides, Rachel, organised a sponsored walk in aid of our Charity. Rachel and her Guiding friends, accompanied by Oliver, enjoyed a walk from the Guide Headquarters along the canal side at Middlewich and guess what, it didn't rain !!!
Rachel and her fellow Guides raised a massive
£165.50p.
We are so grateful to the Guides and to Rachel for her hard work in organising the event. Well done to you all. Here is a photo of the girls at the end of the walk.

IT IS WITH GREAT SADNESS THAT WE HAVE TO REPORT THE SAD AND SUDDEN LOSS OF ONE OF OUR FUNDRAISING DOGS.
OLLIE WAS A LOVELY, FRIENDLY, AFFECTIONATE DOG WHO WORKED HARD TO RAISE MONEY FOR THOSE ANIMALS WHO WERE NOT SO FORTUNATE AS HERSELF. SHE WILL BE FONDLY REMEMBERED BY ALL THE MCAW VOLUNTEERS AND SADLY MISSED BY DELL AND JOHN.
SLEEP WELL, OLLIE, WE WILL ALL MISS YOU

BRING A POUND TO WORK DAY - SILK FM RADIO
Tuesday 13th February 2007
Silk FM Radio - 106.9fm - are this year supporting five local charities who will all benefit from this fundraising event organised by Silk FM. The charities are
Mid Cheshire Animal Welfare
Just Drop in Centre
East Cheshire Hospice
The Childrens Adventure Farm Trust
The Spinal Foundation
What a day it was !!! Volunteer collectors from all the charities met up at Silk FM at 8a.m. and spent the day out and about in Cheshire collecting the donations from local businesses. Ollie and Oliver two of our 'fundraising dogs' were with our teams and they both thoroughly enjoyed all the attention they received ! We met lots of lovely people who were kind enough to donate their £1's and thank everyone who participated in the event. By late afternoon. all the collecting teams had returned to Silk FM with their donations and at 6p.m. it was revealed that a massive £6200 had been raised. The figure should be a little more when all the pledges are in.
Silk FM is not only a great Radio Station but all the team did a fantastic job in organising the event and dashing about with the teams yesterday to broadcast live links. We really appreciate all the effort they made, as I am sure the other participating Charities do.
MCAW are a small independent Rescue. Many people think because we are a Registered Charity that we get Government help WE DON’T. We became a registered charity in 1995 . Our Accounts are kept meticulously by our Treasurer and every penny is accounted for. We, like most other small independent groups , have to go out and find the funds to do the work that we do. We hold Bingo sessions once a month and fundraise where ever we can.
We now own the premises from which we operate and have a mortgage to pay. We are still doing lots of renovation work but to date we have done the following , all with money specifically donated for :-
New double glazed windows and doors
Gas Central Heating
Re-Wiring
Built an isolation room containing 2 new pens
Re-painted throughout
Purchased new (to us !) pens for the main building
We have put in a lot of hard work and what a nightmare it has been at times with workmen all over the place but it has been well worth it and it has been done for the welfare of the animals in our care.
Please help us to continue helping the growing number of unwanted animals that come through our door every year.
Many, many thanks to all those who have helped us in the past.
If you would like to become a member of MCAW , donate items for our shop or help our charity in any other way please contact the main office on 01606 46377 or E-Mail animalwelfare@btinternet.com
*****STOP PRESS NEWS *****
On SUNDAY 16th JULY 2006 we attended a Novelty Dog Show organised by Carol Newton of Newtons Pet Supplies, Weaverham, Northwich, in aid of MCAW and two other local animal charities.
There was a really good turn out in spite of the baking heat and everyone enjoyed showing their dogs off. It was especially nice to see some of the dogs we have rehomed winning rosettes.
Our thanks go to Carol and her team of helpers for all the hard work which goes into the organisation of such an event.
